I've been experimenting with using a heads-up-display in the center of my screen to help me cat DPS. I tried out mHud to put a little graphics overlay showing my energy, the next energy tick, and my combo points. Nice idea but it was too distracting, I can't raid with it.
But mHud has one really cool feature, which is you can display arbitrary DogTags on the screen. What's a DogTag? It's a way to program an addon to display text on screen depending on certain conditions. I came up with DogTag-2.0 tags to show me whether the mob needed Mangle or Faerie Fire and whether I needed Omen of Clarity. I have no home for these now since I don't use mHud, but lots of other addons support DogTag so maybe this will be useful sometime. The [Outline] part is optional.
- Does the enemy have Mangle?
[Outline][IsEnemy ? [ HasAura(Mangle) | HasAura(Mangle (Cat)) | HasAura(Mangle (Bear)) ] ? Text() ! Text(Mangle)]
- Does the enemy have Faerie Fire?
[Outline][IsEnemy ? [ HasAura(Faerie Fire) | HasAura(Faerie Fire (Feral)) ] ? Text() ! Text(Faerie Fire)]
- Do I have Omen of Clarity?
[Outline][~HasAura(Omen of Clarity) ? Text(Omen of Clarity)]
PS: LibDogTag is from the prolific addon author ckknight. If someone hasn't already snatched him up, hire this guy already. He's a great programmer.
